These stories don't even have to be true to stick with dumb voters. This isn't true. You forget Bush fired 8 US attorneys because they wouldn't do his politicial bidding. So what did the hundred other US attorneys promise to do so they could keep their jobs? Be loyal to Bush. Launch investigations against Democrats before an election to cast a doubt on them. The GOP put an innocent Alabama governor in prison just to win his seat for god sakes.

With all due respect you are mixing up a State Attorney General with a US Attorney General. A US Attorney General serves at the pleasure of the President. This is why it's highly unlikely anything will ever come of those firings. It was more political theatre than a real issue. Typical inside the beltway political silliness as our banking system melted down.
