After a year of full blown FDR/Soviet Style Central Planning, after a year of TARP and "Stimulus" spending, after a year of denigrating capitalism and free enterprise, Obama has finally seen the light and admits that Conservatism works; only Conservatism can set the foundation for small businesses to bloom and prosper.

Maybe he was visited by the Spirits of Ronald Reagan, Milton Friedman and Adams Smith last night, who knows? All we can tell is that today he has come to the realization that government spending does not create jobs. In America, that's a job for small businesses!

Welcome Obama! Glad to have you aboard.

If he said it he sure as hell didn't mean it.

Everyone knows the conservative montra is good in theory. That's why so many middle class Americans get suckered into voting GOP. The GOP talks a good game about being conservative, but they are not. They talk about cutting taxes, but they never do. Maybe a token amount, but they cost the middle class more than they gave us. Only the rich made out on Bush's tax breaks.

They spend more too. And their spending goes to the few, not the many. Their free market ideas raise gas prices on the middle class, healthcare costs on us and lowers our wages.

But as far as spending less and fiscal responsibility? Yea, great ideas. HW Bush raised taxes to help Clinton balance the budget.

Now Obama walked into this mess. And I don't think he has the power to get the private contractors out of Iraq. You do know that we took the troops out but sent double their numbers in private contractors. That's going to go on Obama's deficit. But he didn't get us in that war, and until Obama took over, right wingers wanted to stay 100 years. Remember McCain said that and all the righties defended him?

Bush and the bankers were looting the treasury last year and continue today to do so. I don't think Obama can do anything about that either. THat'll go on his numbers too.

But things are getting better slowly. Obama has done a lot. He hasn't fixed everything yet, but he's battling the sellout blue dog dems and the obstructionist GOP.

Actually, it works in certain situations just like liberalism works in certain situations. That's a reason no one political party holds office forever. Both have their flaws.

When has liberalism (whatever that is) ever worked?

Medicare doesn't work. It is a money pit. Medicaid only stays afloat because they keep cutting allowed services.

Medicare? You mean the program that is subject to $60 Billion in Fraud annually? That Medicare? You know its trillion underfunded, right? Is that the great success?

Obama should be thanked for reminding everyone that Conservatism rocks! When American needs to create jobs, let small business do it! Reagan knew this and he cuts taxes and cuts the cost of energy and the economy roared!

Thanks, Barry!

Thom Hartmann read this story about a typical American going through life and just about everything we enjoy about America came from liberals.

You, LABOR, making a good wage. That came from unions.

Time off for your wife and she gets to keep her job? Came from liberals.

Healthcare? Came from liberals.

Social Security? Came from liberals. Conservatives bankrupted it, but the concept is a very good idea.

I'm not doing the story justice. Seriously, everything you have, you can thank liberals. Vacation days, sick days, labor laws that protect your sorry ass, etc. I'll try to find the story.

You mean except for the whole not being solvent part right?

How would anyone know if conservatism still works? We have not had any in govt for around 30 years.

What happened 30 years ago? You mean Reagan? He doubled the debt too.

Like so many Americans who came from less-than-idyllic beginnings, being a liberal is, for me, an act of gratitude for who and what made me possible. My whole life is a product of this country's faith and generosity.
I am reminded of a conversation a few years ago with an editor who was increasingly frustrated with my topics and scolded me for failing to understand who I am.
"You are not the working class," he said, waving his finger at me. "You are an intellectual."
I shrugged and informed him that, if it's true that I'm an intellectual -- and there are plenty who would make the contrary argument -- then I'm an intellectual from the working class.
"We have smart people, too," I said.
The only thing that divides so many Americans is not ability, but opportunity. And when it comes to big chances, no one has benefited more than people like me. We were launched from the blue-collar world with little help beyond big dreams, low-interest college loans and a family legacy of wearing out someone else's low expectations. For so many of us, that was help enough.
Gloria Steinem was right: The personal is political. I can list all kinds of reasons for embracing the liberal agenda, starting with the civil rights movement. But if I am honest, I have to admit that my political values began at the cradle, and you can't get more personal than that.
I am a liberal because my father's union wages and benefits kept his family out of poverty and me in health care after I was diagnosed with severe asthma.
I am a liberal because Medicare kept my grandmother alive long after she was diagnosed with a disease that eventually would kill her.
I am a liberal because of laws that insist that women like me get equal pay for a job equally well done.

This sounds a lot like the Iraq War: the Libruls tried every trick in their playbook to support the Insurgency but now that we won they're out front taking Victory Laps.

We won? Who won? We sent in two private contractors for every soldier we took out. Get your head out of your arse.

PS. You guys let Bin Ladin get away so you could use him as a boogie man and invade Iraq. Don't call Iraq a victory. You don't get the profits from the oil companies or the defense contractors. You just pay the bill.

Oh god... silly bozo.. errr... bobo the assclown is still here spouting off the same bullshit??

Thom Hartman... blah blah... false claim... blah blah... Rhandi Rhodes... blah blah... flat out lie... blah blah blah

Absolutely laughable

Frank... these wingers on the left will try and claim that they have given everything good to the country, and will also try and claim that they were behind any victory or good decision.. and you won't get ones like the deluded assclown to think any different, no matter how much reality you slap them with

Are you suggesting that conservatives were responsible for any of the things I have mentioned?

If they are not, and they are not, then liberals are responsible for the huge American middle class.

And to fight us, you spin your bullshit and suggest we want socialism. How about we just go back to low unemployment and higher wages for labor? Just a little.

Why wasn't it class warfare when the rich got richer and labor got left behind? Riddle me that jackass.

Yeah, thankfully Cronkite's dead and you lost your control on the media so you can call the war for the Insurgency all you want the same way Walter called Vietnam for the North after we inflicted one of the worst ass kicking in military history on them, only your fellow Lunatic Fringe Leftists believe you.

Why do Republicans insist that the 8 years of George Bush weren't really "conservative"? Every time "conservative" ideology "fails", conservatives complain it wasn't "real" conservatism. They assume that if it didn't "succeed", then it wasn't "conservatism". Don't they understand that conservatism is simply a failed ideology? It will ALWAYS fail, because like ID, it isn't "real".

Conservatives admit it ...Liberalism works

The Week Magazine - News reviews and opinion, arts, entertainment & political cartoons

If Barack Obama is succeeding, then he must be moving to the center. Such is the abrupt conclusion of one of the wisest, or wiliest, conservative commentators. While Peggy Noonan’s verdict will rile the propagators of relentless rage on the Right, it’s actually a clever attempt to rescue them from their own marginalization. Her column seeks to lay the groundwork for future conservative claims — that a presidency that succeeds in rescuing the economy, enacting health-care reform, and combating climate change is somehow not a vindication of progressive ideals.
