I had the opportunity to meet with an official at the NYS Board of Ed and we got onto the topic of the progressive decline in education in the State.
She said, "guess how many school districts there are?"
Me, "100 to 200?"
Her, "Ha! You uneducated fool! (She didn't really say that) There are over 700 separate school districts!"
I looked it up, NY has 61 cities and 533 towns for 594 municipalities but somehow has 730 school districts. There are 62 Counties in NY.
The average NY School superintendent, makes $110,000, average teacher makes $76K.
Why does a State need more school districts than municipalities?
Reasonable Fix
We should probably have 1 School district per State (we have computers and the Internet now)
Eliminate the Fed Bd of Ed, stop subsidizing college, stop finding bureaucrats
