Have you ever worked for or with government agencies??
Ever?
If you have, you know to the extent they are overstaffed and wasteful at the state and federal levels. Unbelievably overstaffed. The only entity on the planet that is so wasteful than the government is large universities where most people who work there - barely work at all.
They have so many minions and underlings it is incredible.
And I know this, I have seen it in my career for decades.
My dad worked for the federal gov't for 42 years. He said he'd never seen so much waste in his entire life.
His job was to fly offshore and inspect oil and gas platforms for safety compliance. Well, many mornings the weather was too bad to get offshore. However, the contract with the heli company stated that they MUST at least attempt to fly off shore every single day, 5 days a week. So they all loaded up their gear into the helicopter, that was contracted out to taxpayers at thousands of dollars an hour, flew to the coast, saw they were fogged in, flew back, unloaded, and then the heli flew back to its home base about 15 miles away. Wasting thousands of taxpayer dollars every time this happened.
They did this for his entire forty two years of working for the gov't.
And to top it off, for their "budget" at the end of the year, they would go around the office asking people what they wanted, spend up the money before the end of the year, because if you didn't spend it, you'd get less next year. So they HAD to buy all kinds of crap they didn't need. My dad would come home with piles of stuff. All free. I remember as a kid I never had to buy a notebook for school, pens, anything like that. All the other kids had notebooks of different colors, mine were gov't brown. Others ink pens were Bik and the like, mine were the gov't prison brand "Skilcraft." He also got me free hats, protective suits, ear and eye protection (PPE) all kinds of stuff. It was like Christmas in September (end of fiscal year was October 1.) He didn't need any of the shit, but if the office didn't spend all the allotted money, they'd get less next year when they might really need it.
And for the record my entire family are staunch anti-gov't conservatives. They've seen the waste, fraud and abuse first hand.
