Should be possible if you were using a gas 'bubble' to eliminate resistance. They already theorize that ships are sunk due to methane bubbles rising from the ocean floor. Granted bubble in this case is a relative term as it would need to be rather large. If you could create a series of bubbles you could travel through them without the resistance.
