At the moment no. It will eventually be enforced unless congress passes a law changing that requirement.

While Enhanced IDs meet Real ID requirements, there are some great benefits. Major among them is the ability to travel to Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean without the need of carrying a passport. For folks who live near the US border and cross regularly it removes the headache of always having a passport with you.

It was a BIPARTISAN bill that was passed twenty years ago. I think the benefits to secure aviation and the possibility for use in securing our elections far outweigh the panic over big government. There is no requirement at this time that you even have to have one---unless you want to fly commercially. Trying to turn it into a partisan issue is ridiculous.

BS. - Recently I had to stay over 1,000 miles out of state an extra couple months in FL to evict tenant & repair my rental. While working there my license expired, so I couldn't Drive, Fly, Board a Train or Greyhound Bus without that Real ID. Uber also requires ID to sign up & can only drive you a max of 4 hours in any direction. Walking, biking or bumbing a ride with a private person is the only option.

Look I get it you did not renew before your license expired so rather blame yourself you feel compelled to blame real ID. Sorry but it does not work that way

Sounds like it was your fault that you didn't keep your ID current. There is no requirement for Real ID for ANY kind of travel other than commercial aviation and Passports, military IDs and Veterans Health ID cards meet the requirement. Please keep your identification current--democrats require it.

I was working away from home for about 6 months. My return was unexpectedly delayed 2+ months after Trump allowed tenants to skip rent payments, so I had unexpected evictions & rental flip while I was away. Could not renew license out of state.

Bottom line is freedom to travel is a basic human right that tyrannical Republicans took away. During Covid Republican Gov Desantis posted checkpoints when crossing into FL via I-95 and I-10

lol son you are a laugh a minute. You could have renewed before you left. You could have renewed on line unless your state is one of the backward states that does not allow that.
Sure it is fun to blame everything on the other cult but bottom line is every state, and I mean every state, be it one cult or the other requires a license to drive and none consider it a basic human right

So MO has draconian laws. Yet you try and pass it off as Florida and republican cults fault. My my. In the states I have lived in you could take your license into the DMV up to six months before it expired and get a new one. In two of them you had six months after it expired to get a new one with no more then surrendering the old license, in one after three months you had to take an eye test and the written test and wait two weeks while they checked for motor vehicle infractions. At the moment I can renew my drivers license completely online one time over the course of 10 years.
Your license was expiring and you decided to stay out of state. Or maybe you just did not care.
