The best way to push back against Real ID is to not get one, or convert back to regular ID which can be done in all states but Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, and Wyoming.

This is important because it lowers the compliance rate, which shows the unpopularity of Real ID to politicians and sparks action.

"WHAT ARE THE DANGERS OF REAL ID?
The REAL ID is an unconstitutional NATIONAL ID system, that could exert control over you life beyond the airport. It violates constitutionally protected state and personal sovereignty. HOW DO I SWITCH TO A STANDARD STATE DRIVER’S LICENSE OR ID?
1. CHECK FOR A STAR: The REAL ID is often called the “star card.” This may vary by state.
2. CHECK FOR A STATEMENT: If your DL or ID does not have a star, it is a standard DL or ID. Itwill likely also include a statement such as “Not for Federal Identification Purposes.”
3. FIVE STATES: The following five states do not allow you to have a standard state DL or ID:Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, and Wyoming. Your only option is the National ID.
4. 45 STATES: If you’re in a state that allows you to have a standard state ID/DL, don't wait foryour renewal date. Make the switch ASAP. Increase the number of non-compliant DLs/IDs.
5. WEBSITE: Check the state DMV website for any useful information or instructions.
6. REQUEST: Go to the DMV (in person or online) and request a standard driver’s license.

The point of the matter is that the legislation was bipartisan and voted in twenty years ago and NONE of our representatives had the balls to carry it out until now. It is no different than carrying your current license except for the fact that all states will be in compliance with one secure comprehensive set of rules. Hornak of the West Virginia University Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR), told the Post: “The long-term goal,…is ubiquitous use” of biometrics.
Real ID Has Nothing to Do with Safety
The argument that strict identification is a necessity for safety in airline travel is deeply flawed. The determinant of safety is what a passenger boards a plane with. Either a passenger is “naked,” in the security sense of the word, meaning thoroughly searched for arms or weapons, or he is not. It is ridiculous to presume that a passenger may take over an airliner with the pilots cabin door locked, as all now are. Armed air marshals are now on almost every flight.

You touched on the question I was about to ask: If Real ID is required to board a plane, can’t I just take my passport (even for domestic flights)?
I can leave my real ID and just take my passport and get on any plane. Domestic or international. I can rent cars get back into the U.S. only thing is I do not like the idea of carrying my passport just to get on any plane domestic flight.
