Venezuela's Hugo Chavez tightens state control of food amid rocketing inflation and food shortages - Telegraph
President Hugo Chavez is tightening state control over Venezuela's food supply, setting quotas for food staples which are to be sold at government-imposed prices.
None of Obama's ideas come anywhere close to government control of the price of food.

People get the government they deserve. Chavez got into power primarily because the previous class system kept those who are now supporting him down and now they are paying for it. I can't feel sorry for them, really, but will it ultimately be good? History says "No way", if fact most of these nationalist, socialist, dictatorial type of systems usually explode in a bad way and when they do, it's back to square one. It's a shame but we just can't seem to learn anything from history. He's already on the downward spiral but no one there will know it, cause he controls the media, till it's too late. He's already got everyone one of them looking behind every rock for spies or across the sea for invaders. It won't be long till they start turning on each other (Oh, wait, that's already started - the Jews, you think he could have come up with something original? but then there is the Amazonian Indians, that's at least unique) Others are sure to come. The whole situation is a sad farce being played upon the poor and uneducated against a long standing upper class for the benefit of one.
I met the guy who owns the Yamaha dealerships in Venezuela. He has lost some property to Chavez and is trying to move his wealth and family to the US. We talked about Obama; he is now thinking that Costa Rica looks attractive.
Obama (God I just canÂ’t bring myself to say our President) wants to tax the rich and tax profitable businesses will only drive them offshore. There are still tax havens like the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caymans that welcome our rich with open arms, because they tax the lifestyle not the individual.
The only reason Chavez has power is because there are enough poor Venezuelans who support him. And since Socialism brings down the standard of living for everyone, he is sure to retain his thrown for decades to come. Obama's spending policies will continue to drive down the standard of living for everyone, so we are on track for a Chavez-style government in the future.
You sir, are a exactly right. I followed Chavez closely for the last three years even to the point of sending periodic Chavez updates to annoy my lefty friends. I concluded those a couple weeks ago when he became, effectively, dictator for life. I did provide a PS update on this most recent news. I'm not sure if the attached story includes the fact that he send troops to the rice farms to "force" farmers to increase production. That was in the Wall Street Journal article on the subject.
But yes we're about 10 years behind Venezuela. I'm sure in 10 years President for Life Obama will have done his best to catch up.
