In my circle of friends and acquaintances, there is an ex-couple - two 30-year-old's who have grown away from each other to the point of active hostility. They lived together for 6 years, and have split...both going back to live with parents, believe it or not. Neither wants anything to do with the other.

But yet...they own two dogs - I don't know the particulars - and neither one wants to give up the dogs. They both agree that the dogs are "inseparable" and must remain together, and they each want to keep the dogs. They play games with "custody," such as not being home when the other comes to pick up the dogs.

Both are in new relationships which are, let's say, harmed by the dog-fighting, as it is a large, emotional distraction.

Glad I'm not a dog person. I can't even imagine allowing one's fondness for a domestic animal to fuck up one's life.

Has nothing to do with the dogs. Has everything to do with wanting to hurt the other person.

For me, that would be a show stopper in a relationship.
If the person I was dating did not like my dog or my dog did not like her……I would show her the door

So, you're gay? Ok.

These people aren't "dog people"

They are "replace children with dogs" people.

Big difference.
