Noem confuses a constitutional right with its abuse. Imagine my surprise.

Perhaps we need to start looking at the Second Amendment the same way.
That is clearly a right and its called such.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Was OP concerned about the Constitution when they advocated for those who would not take an experimental gene therapy shot to be put in camps?

When is the Constitution important? Only when it supports your agenda?

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was grilled by U.S. Senators about habeas corpus — and the potential suspension of it — during her hearing today on Capitol Hill, and one of her answers swiftly went viral, amassing over a million views shortly after it was posted.

With White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller sparking talk last week about President Trump potentially suspending the writ of habeas corpus for migrants the administration wants to deport, Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and others wanted clarification about the Trump team’s respect for the right as described in Article One of the U.S. Constitution.

Hassan asked Noem: “What is habeas corpus?”

The DHS Secretary replied: “Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country.”

Hassan interrupted with a short lecture on habeas corpus, telling Noem: “Let me stop you ma’am. Excuse me. That’s incorrect…Habeas corpus is the legal principle that requires that the government provide a public reason for detaining and imprisoning people.”

Hassan continued: “If not for that protection, the government could simply arrest people, including American citizens, and hold them indefinitely for no reason. Habeas corpus is the foundational right that separates free societies like America from police states like North Korea.”

Following up, Hassan asked Noem if she supports habeas corpus.

Noem replied: “I support habeas corpus. I also recognize that the President of the United States has the authority under the Constitution to decide if it should be suspended or not.”

Hassan then asserted that the suspension of habeas corpus has “never been done without approval from Congress,” saying “even Abraham Lincoln got retroactive approval from Congress.”

Are you telling me that the Homeland Security Secretary doesn't know what habeas corpus is?

Watch the Trump Humpers run in here to defend her answer.

Migrants have no rights....does the word illegals mean anything to libs. Former Presidents including Billy Boy deported far more than Trump will

But you only post about it when Trump and/or his cabinet are embarassing.

No, that's the only time you notice.

I've noted how incredibly poor of a choice Harris was many times.

Not when Mayorkas is parroting over and over and over again that the border is secure!! The border is secure!!

While millions upon millions of unvetted illegals are pouring across our borders.

That sure seems a whole lot more embarrassing than Kristi Noem sounding foolish. But then again, I don't have TDS. I prefer to analyze situations based on facts not my feelings.

I noted many times it was a big part of the reason Democrats lost.

Facts are Noem was hired for sucking up to Trump, not for any competence.

Remember when dumb unqualified ignoramus Maxine Waters, head of the House Banking Committee didn't even know the government took over the student loan program? Watching her question these bank CEOs is like having the cleaning woman up there.

Explain how that has anything to do with the Homeland Security Secretary not knowing what the hell habeas corpus is.

ANOTHER thread on this?

Explain how that has anything to do with the Homeland Security Secretary not knowing what the hell habeas corpus is.
Simple. I've shown you an example of how much worse and more unqualified leftwing leaders in national government are than what you say about Noem.

Trump, up until Noem walked the plank on this one, had no idea what it meant either. Just another indication of the sad state of affairs we’ve slipped into due to the last election. Lets hope there is something left to rebuild in 2029.

I'm thinking that the more intelligent people in the party really did not want to give her that chairmanship post. All the time as a politician and minority status also a woman checked the boxes and ended up a negative for them. To many of the Progs are out for accusations, smearing and pushing crimes against Republicans. Which takes time away from real work getting done and making sure more qualified people within the party will be in charge of key committees.

I'm not here to defend Noem. I already told you I wouldn't care if she was forced to resign.

I'm here calling you a hypocrite for not faulting Mayorkas for the mess he made and repeatedly lied about causing a whole lot of harm to our country that apparently doesn't bother you.

Interesting that you only refer to massive illegal immigration allowed and lied about by Mayorkas as a problem for democrats' election prospects not the chaos, crime and cost it causes Americans. Got it.

You insisting you're not a democrat is pretty humorous.

Actually you didn't, Trump claims to hire the best and the brightest, but we see time and time again that's a lie.
Well Maxine is dumber than an old cleaning woman. And she's quizzing distinguished accomplished bank CEO's? This just shows the utter incompetence of the Democrat Party.

It's ALL embarrassing. Incompetence everywhere.

it was noted because it was something the Democrats couldnt even explain. There was no rhyme or reason.

You insisting you're not a democrat is pretty humorous.

You're the Democrat. Sucker.

Amazing - we are being lectured about the law by the treasonous seditious criminal Biden Junta.

The Biden Politburo concealed the fact that Biden was demented to the max and eaten up by prostate cancer but somehow they want to take the high ground.
From your link:

“Secretary Noem, what is habeas corpus?” asked Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H.

“Well, habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country,” Noem replied.

“That’s incorrect,” Hassan interjected.

And, what was Noem starting to say when Hassan interjected? What? You don't know?!?!?!?!

Of course not. Nobody knows, except Secretary Noem. That's the whole point of cutting off someone's answer, isn't it?

Love a good game of "gotcha," but only when the gotcha is real.
