If this is to be believed, Rand Paul may single-handedly end Trump's use of tariffs and force him to use alternative methods to get what he wants on trade. However, this was a power delegated to the president by Congress. This is a risky gamble, and could fracture the Republican Party going forward.

I am not sure a resolution is worth the weight of the paper it is printed on in his case, but go for it. Anything other than a veto-proof stripping of Presidential power isn't going to keep Princess from constantly feeling that pea.

Tariffs are the perview of the president. If Rand Paul is this stupid, if he thinks its 1950, than he has damned his and his fathers legacy for this charade. America is at war, its that simple.

Tariffs were never intended to be under the purview of the prez. If Congress had the will it could take back the authority it had. But there aren't enough votes to override the inevitable veto. However, as I said yesterday, if just a handful of Repubs in Congress show some courage then orange Orban's legislative agenda.......to the extent he has one........is dead.

Actually, they aren't. Tariffs are a tax, and they can only be raised by Congress.

Trump is once again using the Constitution as toilet paper.

You can believe anything you want, but you can't make up your own definitions.

Wow! Really? So Mr. Libertarian is obviously a Chinese agent.

Not someone who is legitimately asking why a 145% tax on the American consumer is a good idea or not.
This is just more Catch 22 from you idiots....

Are you now saying that the 145% is a good thing?

There is no 145% tax. What is the inflation rate again? Also, not every item is exposed to tariffs. Tax increases affect FAR more people than tariffs. It isn’t close.

Maybe Rand should work with the Trump administration or just resign from the Senate.

Tariffs aren't a tax. A tax is forced on citizens, this is a tariff against nations. You don't have to buy such products. There is no law that says you must buy ANYTHING made in China.

No law. No tax. If you pay the price for the product than you accept the agreement.

It's a tax paid by the consumer who buys a product, guy.

Come on, man, get real here.

People are going to be feeling the sticker shock very soon. Watch for Trump's ratings to go into the toilet then.

Rand Paul has never had the votes to do literally anything. Somethings I agree with him on, others I don't. But he has no power except his weird hair. :)

/---/ If you insist -- it's a voluntary tax you choose to pay if you buy foreign stuff. No tax on American made stuff.

I’ve got news for you. Not all tariffs are passed on to consumers and not all goods are affected. Essentials aside, importers and overseas manufacturers will eat some of these if buying slows down. That is how business works, otherwise, why don’t they just double their prices just to make more profit? Business isn’t like government. Government can raise their “prices” at will and the “consumer” is forced to eat the increase. That is not the way business works at all. You guys fail real-world Econ. 101 BIGLY.
