Nicholas Maduro has been captured: Trump

LOL.......if you insist.

NYT:

Yesterday, President Trump resurrected the interventionist foreign policy he had mocked for years. Under his orders, American troops invaded Venezuela and seized the president and the first lady.
A one hour operation compared to a month. Ok

Nothing a concerted air campaign wouldn't cure.
Not true

The communists have been in power for 25 years and control the conventional military forces

Whereas the opposition that we support have only sticks and stones

Our overwhelming military power would be useless in that situation

There is a reason we positioned military assets all over the Caribbean before performing the operation.

And knocked out the Vz air defenses (even though they didn't work anyway).

Any situation like this has inertia. Maduro has allies and supporters, especially in the police and military. They're going to stop getting paid, so we'll see how that rolls.

Plus during their combined tenures Chavez and Maduro restructured both the legislature and the Supreme Court. Regime change usually has to be pretty pervasive to get the job done. It isn't as simple as changing the locks.
I think its too soon to declare victory

Time will tell

It’s still worth billions and billions
It is, but it needs expensive cokers to process. We have several refineries capable of doing that, as we used to import a good bit of that oil to process through Houston.

Unfortunately, mismanagement has effectively destroyed their petroleum industry. It will take five to ten years and massive re-investment to get production back up to historical norms. Given the current price of crude, there's no incentive for foreign E&P companies to do that. Venezuela could do that with proper management, but the current regime is the one who put in the horrible management in the first place.

Not your business.

That's what Obama and Biden said, but in case you haven't noticed, they're no longer in the White House. Seeing as how we now have an "America first" President and Venezuela is in our hemisphere, it is our business.

I bet what Trump did really burns you Russian's asses. :laughing0301:

15th post
Hopefully as some point we'll find out what shady business deals Trump has been setting up in anticipation of this. That's why he does pretty much anything.

I could have sworn we were going to stay the hell out of military actions in foreign countries. Now we're in the business of nation-building again.

Oh well. Some things never change. I wonder who's next.

Trump does nothing, absolutely nothing unless it benefits him personally. EVERYTHING he does is to stuff his pockets & the pockets of his cronies.

Big Oil donated $500 million to Trump's campaign. U.S. taxpayer's are going to be on the hook if we end up seizing Venezuela's oil reserves in our "national interest". They'll get the oil, we'll get the shaft. And the only way we will get it is with boots on the ground with a military takeover. Anyone who thinks Venezuela is going to hand it over willingly lock stock & barell is an idiot.

Cuba is next.

So in other words, Trump put his balls on the Venezuelan table at the Chinese restaurant and asked if they wanted a taste of these dumplings.

That's one hell of a change from letting China float spy balloons over the US mainland, and not even saying a peep about it.

I subscribed to that guy, almost immediately after he started posting. He's great. If I were a Texan, I would have voted for him. I think he is going to run again. Texans should vote for him.
