Actually that is not true- if you read the report. On average that appears to be correct- but not by state.

For example- Colorado(legalized pot) saw a 12.1% increase- but Indiana(didn't legalize pot) saw a 50% increase.

Meanwhile- Maine(legalized pot) saw no increase, Massachusetts(legalized pot) saw a decrease (35% to 34%)

So the OP was a lie, the NY Times article was slightly misleading- but certainly I think that we certainly study what the affects of legalized marijuana are on traffic accidents, injuries and deaths.

I also think that because of the global-warming-driven push to give pedestrians dominion over the roadways, increased pedestrian incidents should be expected, too. In the socialist effort to make the US more like Europe, AGW politics have created dangerous situations whereby pedestrians walk out in front 35 mph traffic because they’ve been given the ‘right of way’. A car must now stop on a dime to accommodate a stupid pedestrian. It can work in europe because their ancient city streets were designed for horse-drawn carriages. Ours were designed for automobiles.
