I gotta hand it to democrat congressman Mike Thompson (Ca) for introducing an amendment to the "Omnibus appropriation bill" that requires all US Flags purchased by the Defense Dept to be manufactured in the US. It was signed into law by the president. Why did it take so long?

You're obviously a Communist!

It was surprisingly difficult for me to find an American flag made in the U.S. a few years ago when I bought mine. This decision sounds good to me.

It ain't your freaking Flag old school. They still make them in China. It's about the defense dept....American taxpayers.. buying Flags made in the US and the disturbing realization that the Flags draped on the coffins of American heroes might have been authorized by stupid politicians who ain't got a clue to be manufactured in freaking China.

Our Representatives know full well where our products are made.

Yes that's why I couldn't agree more with this

Really? :doubt:

In any case.

Great idea!

Outstanding, one would have thought this was a no brainer. Sad we needed a law to get this done.

I'm waiting with bated breath for the Conservatives to chime in on this one.

Something both sides can surely agree with. Excellent move, :clap2: to Mr. Thompson.

Like that's going to make a big difference. These heroes are dead and probably don't mind. I'm surprised you're not complaining that it's not the confederate flag draping the coffins.

Guys like me who served in the USMC and guys who served in other branches of the Military would probably consider that your sissie bigoted viewpoint is irrelevant.

I absolutely agree with it.

I do too. The flags have long been made in America but the some of the materials used to make them were not from the U.S. Now they will be. :clap2:

It is indeed a fine flag. Some think that burning it should be free speech.

So should pissing on those who burn it also be a free speech.

I have an American flag and a Canadian flag both made in China. If you hang them correctly according to the protocol, then the flags are essentially wrong side out, all the seams are on the side that shows. I'm not convinced that this is a coincidence.

15th post
I get my flags through the Capitol Flag Program. The flags are made in the U.S. "The Architect of the Capitol fulfills all flag requests from Members of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. Flags are flown daily year-round, weather permitting, excluding Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. There are special flag poles where all flags are flown. After it is flown over the U.S. Capitol, each flag is issued a keepsake Certificate of Authenticity by the Architect of the Capitol.

Currently, the Architect of the Capitol fulfills on average more than 100,000 flag requests from Members of Congress annually"

Had one for my son when he was born.

I'm not convinced this was either.

One has to ask why they're made in China, not America.
Perhaps someone could research it and find out the Chinese are better capitalists than Americans.
