New requirement - Flags made in US

I gotta hand it to democrat congressman Mike Thompson (Ca) for introducing an amendment to the "Omnibus appropriation bill" that requires all US Flags purchased by the Defense Dept to be manufactured in the US. It was signed into law by the president. Why did it take so long?

I have an American flag and a Canadian flag both made in China. If you hang them correctly according to the protocol, then the flags are essentially wrong side out, all the seams are on the side that shows. I'm not convinced that this is a coincidence.
