Amid criticism, praise, Sununu signs voter residency requirement bill into law
Good! Let the leftists WHINE...they are great at it. No more commies from Massachusetts coming over to vote in NH!
No whining here.
I'm all for having to show an ID when you vote. I don't understand why some liberals are against it. There isn't enough voter fraud to make a difference in any major election but in local races or in rural areas, a few dozen votes could swing an election one way or another. And it's not only elections; referendums are just as important (perhaps more so). Back when I lived in Houston, for example, we were going to build some stadiums. The revenue would come from a tax on rental cars and hotels. If you're in a neighboring city like Bellaire or Katy or Conroe...and own some hotels there; you would probably vote for this tax. It makes your hotels cheaper alternatives if someone is staying in the vicinity. It is in Houston's best interest to make sure that those who live in Bellaire, Katy, or Conroe do not vote in their municipal elections as a result.
One thing from the link though...
But beginning in the 2019 municipal elections – and later, in the 2020 elections – people who vote in New Hampshire must be residents of the state and if, for instance, they do not have a New Hampshire driver’s license, they will be required to obtain one within 60 days of voting. They must also register their vehicles in the Granite State.
Not sure why you would have to register your car there and what that has to do with voting.
And, one other thing, if you vote in an election and don't obtain the NH driver's license...what do they do? Eliminate your ballot after the candidate is sworn in? Must be more to it than that.
