Since Ahmaud Arbery was brought up I'll chime in. I find these cases not only to be tragic but fascinating. The comments on both sides of this argument never cease to amaze me.
At the end of the day you just need to follow the law. It's really that simple. These 3 guys are right where they should be - in jail. Their guilt was painfully obvious from day 1.
It's absolutely irrelevant what Arbery was doing in that construction site. Maybe was just taking a break from his jog, maybe he was casing the place, or maybe he took a few tools. It doesn't matter. No where in the law does it say when he runs through the neighborhood that those guys can grab their guns, chase him and corner him. Those 3 guys were quite obviously breaking the law which resulted in the death of Arbery.
You can argue all day that it wasn't smart of Arbery to grab the guy's gun. Perhaps it wasn't. But they cornered him and would not let him leave. He's allowed to protect himself even if it's not the smartest move at the moment.
Those 3 guys were guilty all day and deserved those sentences. The whole ordeal was nothing short of tragic.
