The bill is supposed to stop hate speech but the way it is phrased it can easily be interpreted as banning anyone from advocating for affirmative action. That certainly qualifies as " abetting intimidation based on race or gender."

oct 6 2025 California lawmakers are once again leading the charge — not toward progress, but toward repression. Their latest move, Senate Bill 771 (SB-771), is being packaged as a bold stand against “hate” on social media. In reality, it’s a direct assault on the free expression and constitutionally protected speech of ministries, minority groups, and faith-based organizations.

The bill would force Big Tech to remove content that could be interpreted as “harassment” or “intimidation” based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and more — or face financially devastating lawsuits. If Gov. Gavin Newsom signs this bill into law as expected, it will become one of the most dangerous speech-restricting laws in the country.
The bills says:

California law prohibits all persons and entities, including corporations, from engaging in, aiding, abetting, or conspiring to commit acts of violence, intimidation, or coercion based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, or other protected characteristics.

LMAO, I wonder what Ward Connerly is saying about this?

All a big show of what Newsom will do as president

The only question is, will Trump end election fraud in time.

Interesting. So, if i read the bill correctly, if someone makes a video about another person, that violates any of the civil protections, including political affiliation, the person who was wronged can sue the social media platform for up to 1 million dollars (twice that amount if the target was a child).

Platforms are considered liable simply because they know how their algorithm will distribute the videos to people.

CA democrats stepping on a piece of their anatomy again. Affirmative Action has been illegal in most cases in CA since 1996. I guess no one remembered that.
Affirmative action is mostly banned in California due to Proposition 209, which prohibits state institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity in public employment, education, and contracting. However, private employers can still implement affirmative action programs as long as they comply with federal laws. Wikipedia California State Portal

Current Status of Affirmative Action in California

Proposition 209

  • Passed in 1996: Proposition 209 amended the California Constitution to prohibit state institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity in public employment, education, and contracting.
  • Impact: This ban effectively ended affirmative action programs in California's public universities and government agencies.

Proposition 16

  • Attempt to Repeal: In 2020, Proposition 16 was introduced to repeal Proposition 209, allowing affirmative action to be reinstated. However, it was defeated with 57% of voters opposing it.

Legal Implications

  • Public Institutions: Affirmative action is largely banned in public universities and government jobs. They cannot use race or ethnicity as factors in admissions or hiring decisions.
  • Private Institutions: Private employers in California can implement affirmative action programs, provided they comply with federal laws.

Conclusion

Affirmative action remains illegal in California's public sector due to Proposition 209, while private entities have more flexibility under federal guidelines.

Newsom is a falling down drunk. The press protects him but they won't be able to if he goes for the WH.

Newsom is afraid to say these words out loud.

CA is opening the office of the ministry of truth.
