Last I checked, the U.S. Government is the largest insurer in the WORLD. SSI, Medicare, unemployment, VA, etc. routinely tell people to **** off when they file claims.. SSI is NOTORIOUS for sticking it to "the little guy"

It's 'health insurance reform' today? Huh, yesterday I coulda sworn it was 'health care reform'. Guess it depends heh.

How many years -- how many more years can the federal budget handle the crushing costs of Medicare and Medicaid? That's the debt you're going to have to pay, young people. When is the right time for health insurance reform?

So I've mentioned two things now: insurance reform and making sure the people who don't have health insurance are able to get it.

The insurance industry is evil.

They want to deny coverage to sick people, so they can make more profit.

Following your "logic," the evil insurance companies MUST all stop denial of coverage for "pre-existing conditions" (a contract term in the policies; so their ability to draft such contracts must be outlawed and all such policy provisions already in existence must be declared null and void)!

What will this mean? Obviously, only good will come of it. Flowers will bloom. Birds will sing and chirp! Gentle rains will quench parched lands. Rivers will flow and sparkle. Fish will become abundant and healthy. And insurance companies will cover your illnesses and injuries no matter what! No matter what they are, no matter when you got sick, no matter how often, no matter what the cost. All covered -- always!

Of course, this completely uniform universal coverage will apply to ALL policy holders. No claims can ever again be denied (except maybe fraudulent claims.) And the other policy holders will just have to pay a little tiny bit more to cover these costs. For, as you must know, the evil insurance companies do not pay for diddly dog. They pass along, to the rest of their "customers," the costs of doing business (such as paying those enormous claims).

What will be the new "cost" to each policy holder? Premiums will skyrocket. Pretty soon, naturally, folks already making too little and paying WAY the hell too much in taxation will have insufficient funds to cover the costs of their policies. So, they will drop their insurance coverages. This could be bad . . . . BUT WAIT:

No matter. Uncle Sam to the rescue! In a manner JUST as precise and workmanlike as Medicare and Medicaid, the Federal Nanny -- err -- Government will assume the position of national Insurance Company! EVERYONE is always fully covered!

OK, but how has their "evilness" denied anyone their freedom? I would be all down with regulating these industries if I can find a way that someone's liberty was being violated by them entering into a voluntary contract between them and other people. They were not forced to sign an agreement so they were not violating the freedom of anyone.

When you discover that the insurance companies have violated the freedom of anyone then make a case for it. Then we might be willing to discuss what government action can be done to protect someone's freedom.

When President Obama pontificates:

Well, let me tell you something. The insurance industry is not starting over. They just announced a 39 percent rate increase in California and a rate increase of up to 60 percent right across the border in my home state of Illinois — 60 percent in one year. That’s the future. That’s the future if we fail to act.

And by the way, I don’t recall any of these Republicans trying to do anything about insurance companies’ abuses during all the years they were in charge.

There is nothing TO recall since the GOP didn't "do" anything "about" that. NOR SHOULD THEY HAVE.

Speaking of which, WHAT "abuses" Mr. President?

Exactly WHO THE **** does this President think he's fooling (other than willing tools like Chris)?

To "do" something about that alleged "problem," the Government would have to have some legitimate claim of authority in that field. And they don't have any such authority. Nor should they.

Yes, Mr. President. "Those" (evil) insurance companies DO offer policies that DO exclude pre-existing conditions. What ******* possible economic sense is there in INCLUDING pre-existing conditions which WILL (without any of the uncertainty that is involved in normal coverage) absolutely require that the company PAY future (probably frequent and expensive) CLAIMS?

In case you STILL haven't figured it out, Mr. President, your tired liberal rhetoric was stupid when it first got used and it hasn't improved with age. In reality, the insurance companies are NOT "evil." And when they DO incur massive additional costs (like paying heavy claims for medical care), they don't print the money. They aren't YOU. They have to PASS ALONG THE COSTS. They have to. It's completely unavoidable.

That translates into the REST of the policy holders having to pay a LOT more for their insurance coverage. At some point, policy holders will be forced to choose between such insignificant options as food, shelter and clothing on the one hand and insurance coverage on the other hand. YOu CAN drive insurance companies out of business, but you cannot, as President, compel them to provide additional coverage without making the costs to all of us massively more expnsive or forcing people to opt out of being covered.

For God's sake, Mr. President. Buy a damn clue. Stay the hell OUT of our business. This is partly WHY we CHOSE to have a Federal Government of limited and enumerated powers. You guys aren't all that good at what you do. Stay the hell out of OUR business and try to handle the matters properly left to YOUR purview better.
