These subs cost a fortune as t is. Now they have to make it safe for females, driving costs even higher.

What a dumb idea it was to allow women to serve on submarines. Asinine stuff.

The USS New Jersey was designed for two genders from the outset with accommodations like increased privacy in washrooms and sleeping areas, Vice Admiral Robert Gaucher, commander of Submarine Forces Atlantic, told NorthJersey.com. Access to top bunks and overhead valves were also designed with the height, reach and strength of women in mind.

There might be more unauthorized schmoozing if you know what I mean.

(Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
Lots of opportunities for that on surface ships too. I recall hearing about one cruise where a high % of the female sailors got impregnated on a ship. I don't recall if it was the US navy or not.

That was a while back. It doesn't seem to be a continuous issue on the surface fleet. As with all things, some diversity makes the whole force stronger

I helped build the USS New Jersey. There are areas of a submarine where being small is an advantage. There are many tight areas that if damaged only a small person can fit.

The only disadvantage women have is that pound for pound they are physically very weak compared to a man.

If everything works fine no problem, but if they have to manually close a hatch or turn a valve in an emergency then they are detrimental to life.
