Islam has a hostile attitude towards non-Muslims and the West especially. This is indoctrinated in the young in many sects. It's possible that after living in the "Belly of the Great Satan" his earlier programing kicked in.

My oldest son works for Immigration, and processes citizenship applications from those in this country from that region. Records to work on can be sketchy and suffer errors in translation.

In the case of this murderer it may be an example of the limits of records from other lands and translation difficulties.

AI in two different searches omitted the fact that Auburn (my alma mater) was the NCAA football national champions in 2010. In both lists, they did not appear anywhere. Many states have it on the books but the liberal governors commute the death sentence to life as a matter of practice, just like Xiden did for federal death row inmates. I gave you two states where it is and has been quite common, even if it takes decades. Trump will seek the death penalty and hopefully the courts will deliver. Hopefully this shooter will have a long painful existence until the sentence is carried out.
