Well, we made an appointment to update her name and address on her DL, only to find they want a bill or invoice under her name at the new address. So we had to change that, and THEN wait another month before they have another appointment open.

It is no the job of the SCOTUS to interpret laws based on what YOU think are ”sensible”. Their job is to interpret the laws based on our Constitution. Nope, I just don't see these "dangers". My father was an immigrant and my wife is an immigrant. Immigrants make America better.

No, guy, I realize you are a bit dim due to generations of inbreeding and moonshine, but here's the thing.

In a well-oiled machine, we should have been able to walk down to the DMV the Monday after our wedding, and got her a new ID with her new name and her new address on it. INSTEAD, we had to wait two weeks to get an appointment, only to be told we needed a bill with her name on it at our current address. That's taken another few weeks, and now we have to wait another three weeks to get back to the DMV.

(And because I'm not a partisan robot, I put the blame on our Democratic Secretary of State, who has managed to make customer service at the DMV actually WORSE than it was before.)

Now, imagine you are a poor person of color, and after your initial shock wears off, maybe you are transient, having to live with other relatives and not able to immediately prove you are no longer living at your old address.
