NAFTA Reworked Under President Trump

Another promise kept and will result in manufacturing jobs for Americans.
Trump replaces NAFTA and triumphs -- New trade deal with Mexico is YUGE win for both countries

Once again the orange clown claims credit for something which is actually nothing.

There is no “deal”. There’s a “broad framework for discussion”. Like the “deal” he signed with Kim, the details haven’t been worked out, and as we all know, the devil is in the details.

Dumb Donald and the Mexican President have 5 days to work out those “details”, sign the deal and have it ratified by Congress.

In five days, the new President of Mexico, the one who ran on a “get tough with Trump” platform, will be sworn in and he’s very unlikely to do anything but tear up the outgoing guy’s deal with Trump.

You're full of male bovine excrement! The incoming Mexican president has already indicated his approval of the proposed deal.

Well, he's approved that something could happen.

And why not?

He gets to send as many parts to the US as he likes, like before. The amount of parts needing to be made in the US and Mexico increase, good for Mexico.

And something about $16 an hour which is an absolute joke as anyone could get around that.

It's better for Mexico than it was before, and not better for the US.

Such a poor article full of lies and mistruths.

So I went looking for something a little more truthful.

Donald Trump just announced a new Mexico trade agreement while promising to terminate Nafta

"President Donald Trump has announced that the United States and Mexico have reached a preliminary trade agreement"

Ah, it's a preliminary trade agreement. Funny how Fox failed to mention this. An example of "fake news"?

"The agreement announced on Monday focuses narrowly on auto manufacturing,"

Yes, this is a very, very narrow preliminary agreement on auto manufacturing.

"The deal would require 75 per cent of automobile parts and content to be made in the US or Mexico, up from current levels of 62.5 per cent. The deal also stipulates that 40 to 45 per cent of auto content be made by workers who earn at least $16 an hour, according to Reuters."

The first part might not even help the US. How that is a good deal for the US when the extra 12.5% could be made in Mexico anyway.

The second part I don't really see how it's enforceable. There are many ways to get around pretending you pay people X amount of money when really they're not paying them that much money.

"The reported deal between Mr Trump and his Mexican counterpart is by no means finalised, in spite of the celebratory mood in the Oval Office. "

"As the president himself noted, the deal must be sent to Congress and would then undergo a 90-day process before it could be approved. The president also does not have the power to unilaterally strike a new trade deal without the approval of Congress "

Right, so Fox is essentially bullshitting. The deal isn't actually that good at all.
Positive for American workers “yes” or “no?” That’s what I thought. Democrats bring nothing to the table.

Positive for American workers? Maybe not. It might increase the cost of automobiles for American workers, so those few who work in the Automobile industry might do better, as long as they don't want to be buy a new car, for everyone else, oh well. Poorer still.
Maybe Trump can do a cash for clunckers type thing. Oh wait.

How can anyone know whether or not the “deal” is better for anyone when the details aren’t finalized, or vague at best?

Here’s a question that quickly comes to mind: What exactly does “workers making $16 an hour” mean? Does it mean that they are being paid $16 an hour, or does it mean that the total value of their wages and benefits (wages, medical insurance, paid leave, retirement benefits) equals $16 an hour. It’s a big difference.

Just because Dumb Donald says it’s better, doesn’t mean it is. He’s been wrong more than he’s been right. Hence all of the business brankruptcies.

Everyone involved has approved the idea of changing NAFTA, including Canada. It’s the details of what’s changing that matter.

Again, an approval in principle is not an approval of the final deal, the details of which have yet to be worked out.

In order to meet the December 1st deadline (the day the new Mexican President is sworn in), they have to come to agreement with Canada by Friday.

The “framework” which the US and Mexico have agreed to was essentially the auto-trade provisions of the Trans Pacific Partnership. The deal that was sitting on Trump’s desk the day he was sworn in. How much time and money has Trump wasted to get back to where you were the day he was sworn in?

Trump has frozen Canada out of the negotiations, using a “divide and conquer” negotiating strategy. Now we’re supposed to fly in and just agree to whatever has been worked out in our absence. Good luck with that.

Why are idiots for anything that’s against Trump, y’all do understand that if you hope for bad things for Trump, you’re hoping the same for all of us, even the idiot liberals

fair trade!! there is no such thing
you think these countries don't try to help their countries/companies???

Of course. But with past negotiations the other countries stood up for themselves and our leader didn't stand up for us. Trump actually puts Americas interests first. Sure, it pisses off other countries but fuck them. We're finally tired of rolling over and taking it in the ass.

Everyone to the right of you is a Russian troll. Too funny. That isn’t working anymore.

“ orange clow”. You children are funny. You say things like that and wonder why you aren’t taken seriously. Pathetic.

1700 posts in 7 weeks. This is why you Russian trolls are so easy to spot.
I didn’t expect you to address the situation at hand. Hag.

I did address the issue at hand. You responded by noting a spelling error and then insulted me.

This shows that you were incapable of countering my discussion points. Your concession is noted.
