He has a very good business acumen and is a definite risk taker... But he is an marketeer not an operational guy... He is stupid believing his own hype...

Doing business with Trump is very risky and normally ends up in tears... Trump is a bad guy to be in business with and Elon is finding out... Look at Tesla stock...

He can get astronauts into low earth orbit for 140 million dollars or so. NASA which is the Prog loving way of doing business, has built a rocket and capsule that would cost 2 billion dollars to do the same even if launched a few times a year for low earth orbit. So, it is purposed to go to the moon and perhaps Mars. And it will be more than 2 billion dollars for that as the launches will be once a year due to expense.

USAID was one of the grease to US business wheel..

China is going to jump in there now...

Say rare earth metals out of Africa... USAID have usually closer ties with the governments of those regions than business interests... They make the introductions and USAID might be helping in vaccine program or other health initiative...
These are areas where introductions matter and trust is key... Corruption is rife...

This influence is gone and the world hates a vacuum, China(mainly) or EU will move in and get access to these resources...

That is why Conservatives have always been supportive of USAID... Arguments between Dems and GOP on USAID normally centred around what is in US interest and what is the right thing to do... And neither side had all the angels or devils...

This was one of the corner stones of US soft power... It is how US excreted power around the world... Carefully managed by teams of excepts from both sides of the aisle... It was the Carrot approach as apposed to the stick... The carrot was costing 20 times less than the stick...
