I was reading that the US Marshals Service has deputized Musk's securty detail.

Apparently concerns have grown regarding his safety because of the cuts to federal programs.

That's not the reason.

The reason is that Musk's DOGE team of creepy 20 year old racist and incels should not have access to certain systems, such as the payment system at the Treasury and the IRS and SSA systems containing Americans' private data.

None of these assholes have gone through the proper background checks to ensure that they can be trusted with Americans' private data.

1. Unnamed "sources" told Reuters? Any cuts made to the FDA only slows down approval. So how does that help Musk?

Sources told Reuters on Tuesday that last weekend, DOGE oversaw the firing of Food and Drug Administration employees reviewing Neuralink, Musk’s brain implant company. The cuts were reportedly made to a department that oversees clinical trial applications from Neuralink and other brain-computer interface devices.
The Washington Post also reported Thursday that DOGE made cuts to a specialized unit with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration focused on overseeing the safety of autonomous vehicles like those made at Tesla. The fired employees include an engineer who worked with crash test dummies and a research psychologist who specializes in drunken driving and speeding.

Because if you have less people doing a job, it doesn't necessarily slow them down. It just means they do everything quicker, aren't as thorough in their job. It might also mean that they will just not bother.

"“If the question is, will this affect the federal government’s ability to understand the safety case behind Tesla’s vehicles, then yes, it will,” one fired engineer told the Post. “The amount of people in the federal government who are able to understand this adequately is very small. Now it’s almost nonexistent.”"

If people don't understand, then they cannot demand that the right things be put in place. Which means a large company like Musk's can push things through because people aren't asking the right questions.

"DOGE has also essentially shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was evaluating hundreds of complaints about Tesla, including many about debt collection and loan problems."

If the whole department goes, then it speeds things up because... you don't need to worry about them any more.

Since Musk has no authority there is no conflict.
