He got a great return on his investment and left.

Then he criticized what he saw while there. Elon focused on conservative fiscaal policy that Trump is not adhering to.

In Washington, federal workers say that DOGE has left the government's operations in disarray. And worst of all, it might have all been for nothing. Musk claims to have saved the government $175 billion so far (nowhere close to his original target of $2 trillion, or even his revised target of $1 trillion).

And that was before the president's new spending bill passed the House. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the president's proposed budget will add $3.8 trillion to our debt over the next ten years. It's now being debated in the Senate.

Musk said, "I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, doesn't decrease it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing."

I said, "I actually thought that, when this 'big, beautiful bill' came along, it'd be like, everything he's done on DOGE gets wiped out in the first year."

Wow, Trump saying one thing (to get people's votes) but doing the opposite? Is that what the Republicans support?

He's just pissed because all the cash he ponied up to get Trump into office hasn't panned out to special benefits for his companies.

Trump dropped the hammer on EV tax credits, jacked tariffs on steel (parts), and slashed taxes even more.

Just to add. What you said is also completely illogical. Democrats don't care about big spending. Conservatives are AGAINST big spending and adding to the debt. So to act as if only Democrats or leftists agree with Elon on this bill is about as upside-down and assbackwards as one can get. And in case you haven't noticed, plenty of Republicans and non-leftists on this site have spoken against this bill. So they're all Democrats for being against big spending and not allowing the states to make decisions on AI for 10 years?

That illogical upside-down thinking is what hyperpartisanship does to people's minds. As a few others have mentioned, I think misguided political loyalty is what is ruining this country. Because hyperpartisans on both sides never hold their own accountable.
