You think this should've gotten wider acclaim? I couldn't think of a more acclaimed movie possibly ever.

Dark City – from 1998, one of the most innovative and compelling science fiction films ever made. Aliens build a changeable experimental city and populate it with humans in order to study them. The film’s tag line was: “They built the city to see what makes us tick. Last night one of us went off.” In the movie’s most salient scene the protagonist states: “You know, I don’t think the sun even exists in this place.” Jennifer Connelly, Kiefer Sutherland, and William Hurt give fine performances.
