The Orlan 10 is a hobby-grade UAV. The motor is Saito glow motor that you can buy in any hobby shop for $300. The optic is a Canon Rebel. The fuel tank is a plastic water bottle. Recovery is parachute and repurposed automobile airbag. Whatever's cheap, that's what they used.
The Ukrainians figured out how to trigger the parachute in flight, and have taken down a bunch of them intact.
Russia made a couple thousand of these, IIRC. Maybe more. The price tag according to Wiki is ~$80K-$120K each.
Someone in Russia made a killing on that one. If you can't put one of those together for a couple thousand bucks, you aren't doing it right.
