All you say is true and for a number of reasons they have turned their back on Christianity to form their own sect along with a few beliefs that fall well outside of Christianity. There is one tenet to which they hold fast--and that their faith includes entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ. From here we enter into Trinity--Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Their teachings on Trinity however false still cannot dismiss that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.They are often individually very kind and generous people, but they are not Christians.
They believe:
1. Jesus and Satan are spirit-brothers
2. God is/was married
3. When they die, they go on to inherit their own planet with their own wife and have endless spirit-babies
You can belong to many denominations and still be within Christian orthodoxy. But the above is absolutely not it.
My belief is that God's Holy Spirit reaches out to all, wherever we may be which takes me back to Jesus' prayer that we might all remain one. As Christians, we have not (yet) succeeded in this. While those of the LDS faith may be further away from that oneness Jesus prayed for I don't believe they should be booted out of Christianity until the rest of us work on becoming one again and then only if they absolutely refuse to reconnect.
