Biden finally weighs in on impeachment, admits not enough votes to convict
President Joe Biden on Monday dealt Senate Democrats a blow when he said in an interview that it seems they will be unable to convict former President Trump — once again — during an impeachment trial.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which he said "prohibits any person who has "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States from holding any office under the United States."
Democrats' Articles of Impeachment state that President Trump 'Incited Insurrection' with the words in his speech at the Capitol. That was their mistake. His EXACT words from the transcripts of his speech at the Capitol show President Trump specifically speaks of 'WALKING PEACEFULLY down to the Capitol to CHEER ON' Republicans opposing the certifying the election results, as was done by the United States Congress in 1877.
If the Democrats' Articles of Impeachment had used a broader scope of speech / behavior rather than specifically the verbiage used in President Trump's Capitol speech they might have a stronger argument. Undermining their own Impeachment, destroying their case, was Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Speaker Pelosi gave an interview prior to the Articles being written in which she declared the entire basis for the politically partisan Impeachment was to eliminate President Trump as a political threat in 2024 and beyond.
Biden, for now, says there aren't enough votes to Impeach President Trump and does not think there will be...so no Impeachment for citizen Trump, even in a rigged Impeachment.
