More on the prom canceling

Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and by many state constitutions and state and federal laws. Criticism of the government and advocacy of unpopular ideas that people may find distasteful or against public policy, such as racism, sexism, and other hate speech are generally permitted. There are exceptions to these general protection, including the Miller test for obscenity, child pornography laws, speech that incites imminent danger, and regulation of commercial speech such as advertising. Within these limited areas, other limitations on free speech balance rights to free speech and other rights, such as property rights for authors and inventors (copyright), interests in "fair" political campaigns (Campaign finance laws), protection from imminent or potential violence against particular persons (restrictions on fighting words), or the use of untruths to harm others (slander). Which part was violated?

Freedom of expression. Give me a hard one.

Show me the word expression.

Were you dropped on your head as a child?

What of the other students, did she have the right to ruin their last year memories, she kinda selfish, ya think.

The bigotted school board, or whoever ruled the prom cancelled, ruined it.

The other choice was a lawsuit by the ACLU, I don't blame them for canceling the prom, given the circumstances I would too. She is responsible for the prom being canceled. Heck she planned it, did you not read that she went to them in December and again in February, she wanted to make darn good and sure they knew she was gonna wear a tux and bring a female date which was against the school rules. Then she's surprised that after getting an ACLU lawyer to sue the school district for her, they cancel the prom?

That's like me not wanting people to come to my barbecue who use foul language and being sued by the ACLU for infringing on their right to free speech. I'd just cancel the barbecue.

What do you think speech, religion, and press are?

Why, would i see the word expression in there if i had?

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak without censorship and/or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

Is your BBQ federally or state funded?

Whats next, after this bunch screws the tax payer again Judge: No school prom but lesbian's right violated - Yahoo! News

My prediction: This will go to court, the "lesbian" will win some undisclosed sum of money, within 5 years she'll become straight, get married and have a couple kids.

And her rights will still have been violated.

And public schools will never cancel another prom to prevent gay couples from attending ever again.

Your barbecue story isn't relevant. This girl's rights were being violated by a local government. That is the difference. I actually admire this girl. I do not admire her lifestyle, but who am I to judge who she is. You and I may not like who she is, but she stood up against overwhelming odds to declare the policy as wrong. She made a request to the school. Denied. She exercised her right to the court system. They canceled the prom. She sued. Good for her. She will lose, but good for her. This girl is standing up for who she is and is not letting anyone else tell her that it is wrong. That is admirable.

Now you are just showing off.

How can her rights be violated? No One has a RIGHT to a Prom. And the school is NOT holding a Prom. The Judge is an idiot. Is the Judge going to ask the Federal Government to pay for this Prom? This loses on every level.

but she mexican, we Americans aren't allowed to offend a foreigner.

she's american, and the judge held that her 1st amendment rights were violated.

he's decided to have a trial; it seems like the right thing to do, imo.

NO one has a right to a Prom. She was not denied the right to attend a Prom, it was canceled. NO prom is being held so she is not being denied anything. Once again, NO PROM, no rights violation. This Judge is an idiot and those of you that think somehow children have the right to a Prom are IDIOTS.

Use your head. The fact that they excluded her from the prom violated her first amendment rights. They canceled the prom due to her challenge.

The judge didn't say that she had a right to a prom. That is why he didn't order the school to hold one. He said that the school violated her rights by excluding her.

There is no prom there for she was not denied the right to attend. Pretty simple concept.

Why does it matter if her family is Mexican? She is still an American citizen and her rights were violated.

What of the other students, did she have the right to ruin their last year memories, she kinda selfish, ya think.

She isn't the one who violated someone's rights, and she isn't the one who canceled the prom. And selfish? Are you kidding me? THEY VIOLATED HER FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.
We had a lesbian couple at my prom, NO ONE cared.
Of course if this had been a white christian, I am sure you would feel completely different about the subject.

Prove she was denied the right to attend the Prom? Ohh wait, there is NO PROM, her rights were not violated at all. No prom no rights violation. Pretty simple concept. If this idiot Judge rules other wise the School board should take it up the level of Courts.

One can not be denied a right if nothing happened. No prom means she was not denied anything. And since no one has a RIGHT to a Prom canceling the Prom violates no ones rights in and of itself.

How can her rights be violated?

Just relax. Think about something nice, like a breezy beach, or a lush green golf course, or a beautiful hooker with huge tits and a line of powder cocaine running down her asscrack - whatever floats your boat.

Are you relaxed now?

OK. I've got something to tell you. Its something you need to know. Are you ready? Good.

YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUES

So stop trying to, and butt out of any and all conversations concerning them.

Thanks!
