I have confidence that as President, Kamala Harris will solve the homeless problem in America. She will do that by incarcerating them all behind bars, and giving them productive jobs in the prison laundry and kitchen.

Make Homelessness great again!

Who can afford to pay a million bucks for a “starter home”?

This is what rampant inflation has done to us.

It has to be said that this is what rampant greed has done to us also. The inflation was created by our greed. Because we believed the markets must always have great years we spent over a dozen years pumping and pumping and pumping the markets.

Hence inflation. It was previous greed under the administrations of Reagan, Clinton and Bush that lead to the massive pumping under Obama and Trump.

Add to this the ever growing debt because we can't stop spending and here we are.

Most of this I don't think is reflected in the optimistic jobs, inflation, and campaign speeches. We seem to be going third world a little faster for some reason. One Man Found The Infamous "Carpet Trails" In Florida That Lead To Enormous Homeless Encampments Way Back In The Woods | ZeroHedge

The US isn't changing because the politicians are all in it for themselves. The system allows such politicians to not only get to the top, but fill out the ranks as well.

What do the people do about it? They get entertained by the system, they don't care, they're not homeless (now) so screw everyone else.

This greed is also why nobody actually builds starter homes any longer. Everything being built is big and fancy or they are "luxury apartments"

There is no profit in a starter home.....That and zoning laws have changed to where you can put a duplex on a lot you could have only built a single family home on. That and lots are being built on now that would have not passed muster 20 years ago.

Hell they built a new home on a shit lot (I'd say around 2K sqft, nothing special) on the last remaining lot in my subdivision and it sparked a bidding war and it went for 539K. Some woman from NOtVA bought it.

All that shit does is drive my taxes up.

In fact, in China they are actually “producing documentaries on the collapse of American cities”

The Chinese are now producing documentaries on the collapse of American cities. What this showcases is the grim aftermath of decades of deindustrialization, disastrous progressive policies, and an opioid crisis—ironically fueled by China.

Just when you think 'ya can't write this sh*t'....... ~S~

Land price and availability have made building a 2 bedroom home on 1/4 acre poor financial sense, doesn't meet zoning laws. banks won't finance them, and people don't want them anyway. Older homes are priced ridiculously high and are being purchased by a consortium of mixed families and friends which co habitate them, and are immune to existing zoning laws.

That and 1/2 ac lots that have a older home on them (but the neighborhood is still decent) are simply being torn down and a 1.5M+ McMansion built upon the lot.....That is what is happening to my mom's place I just sold.

They basically paid 329K for the lot, not to mention the teardown cost.....Fuckin' insane, but so is the profit potential for the builder. There is already one McMansion across the street from it and another being built down the street.

At least I figured that was what was going to happen to it so I sold it as is and most of my expenses was cleaning it and two outbuildings out and keeping insurance/utilities on it till it sold.

I heard they were trying to buy the house next to it just to make McMansion's lot bigger!

and yet somehow all of this is the Dems fault...

Cost of construction is directly related to higher interest rates and the inflation of material costs so you leftists own it.....A decent 2X4 is between $9 and $10 now.....Before tax.

The simple fact is that it's more cost effective to build a 2K+ sq ft two story home on an expensive lot than to build a 1K sq ft starter home on the same expensive lot due to leftist policy.

Last year it cost, on average, was $153 per sq ft.....It's averaging around $175 so far in 2024.

Then there is the cost to buyer on their mortgage.....You think 1% does not matter?
