I generally think they should join both. But the russian presence makes them a risk for both organisations. The EU doesnt need another rogue state like Hungary. Ditto nato doesnt need another turkey.
A larger majority would be preferable.

Did they say why they hate Russia? you do know Romania were part of the Axis powers in WW2 and took part in operation Barbarossa the invasion of the Soviet Union, and the Soviet Union went decades ago, much of the hate is totally irrational what did Russia do to them?

Basically, it is Ukraine in a smaller scale - the country divided in half between pro-EU and pro-Russia populations, with its breakaway regions, antagonised political spectrum, weak and ineffective public institutions, corruption and political manipulations, etc. The only main difference - it doesn't have a direct border with Russia.
