The Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) has refused to recognize the results of voting at polling stations abroad, declaring the winner of the election - Maia Sandu - as illegitimate president. A PSRM statement said.
“Maia Sandu is an illegitimate president. She is recognized only by her sponsors and curators from abroad. The people of Moldova feel deceived and robbed,” the statement said.
Socialists called Sandu “the president of the diaspora” and stressed that they do not recognize the results of voting at foreign polling stations, at the expense of which Sandu won.
According to PSRM, the majority of Moldovans voted against the incumbent president. The socialists also pointed to numerous electoral violations, including the unjustified reduction of polling stations, blocking voters' access to polling stations, campaigning on the “day of silence,” hundreds of cases of election fraud, and missing ballot boxes. These violations prevented hundreds of thousands of Moldovan citizens from “exercising their right to vote,” the PSRM said.
On November 4, the CEC, based on the processing of 99.46% of protocols, reported that incumbent Moldovan President Maia Sandu is leading in the second round of the presidential election with 55.22% of the vote. Sandu's opponent - former prosecutor-general and candidate from the opposition Party of Socialists Alexandru Stoianoglo - has 44.78% of votes.
