I quit hunting, when I was in my mid 30s, preferring to buy my meat at Kroger, without having to field dress and or clean, before cooking . I shoot (and fairly often) because I enjoy it and to keep up my skills as an expert marksman with whatever arms I own, and because you just never know if it will be an important life saving skill. I keep a variety of ammo, mostly m855 standard green tip, but also have a small supply of black tip armor penetrating as some red tip tracer rounds. The last two don't get fired much, as the outdoor range I use doesn't like the armor piercing due to target damage, and I don't do night fire. Good accurate, smooth, quick shooting, at different range distance and firing position, once trained is about muscle memory and to remain good, requires practice as it is a perishable skill, especially with age.
Is there a skill you are good at, that you wish to remain good at? Shooting might be the sport for you.
