Mike Johnson turns decades-old Jefferson prayer lie into whole new Jefferson prayer lie!

Oh, Crappy's a shill.
Paid by character count and OP.
So's guno. :auiqs.jpg:
He was off the chain earlier.
Don't project, Son. Your reactions are payment enough for me.

He now not only claims that Jefferson wrote and delivered this prayer, but that he said it every day form then on.
I really don't think the rubes appreciate what they have in Johnson.

No, he's not loud and noxious and shallow and childish and aggressive -- we all know how attracted they are to those traits -- but he's smart, he's a True Believer, and he's focused as hell. If they'd just let him be the grownup -- they don't like that trait, obviously -- he could play an important role in creating their authoritarian Theocracy Lite™.

What is it with republicans and lying? They get caught so often you gotta wonder what they are thinking when they do it again.

"oh, they'll never catch me this time even though they did the last 759 times.

So, by now most people have read or heard about how Mike Johnson, in his remarks after barely eking out a victory to continue his tenure as Speaker of the House in the 119th Congress, attributed a very Christian prayer, in Jesus’ name, to Thomas Jefferson.

A whole bunch of news outlets have reported that this prayer was never uttered by Jefferson, citing a page on the Monticello website that says it has “no evidence that this prayer was written or delivered by Thomas Jefferson.”

He now not only claims that Jefferson wrote and delivered this prayer, but that he said it every day form then on.

The Jefferson Monument wasn't built by Thomas Jefferson. Does that mean the Jefferson Monument isn't the Jefferson Monument?

Instead of harping on who penned the prayer in the first place ... perhaps you should focus on the words of the prayer and its intended purpose instead. You're stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime. It's time to mature.

The Monticello website is a source? Who runs the Monticello website and what are their biases. Do they hate god? Are the true to Jefferson or revisionist. What do they keep, what do the throw away

Seems unlikely? That is what they state about Jefferson's prayer. Seems unlikely would not hold up in court as a defense, in this case we can say it is Jefferson's prayer, lacking any evidence that it is not his prayer.

Ultimately, it seems unlikely that Jefferson would have composed or delivered a public prayer of this sort
seems to me that Jefferson MIGHT HAVE (unlikely) had a personal prayer, but it is unlikely that he would have published it

They will fight him at every turn. In their opinion he just isn't tRumpy enough.

That's one of the few bright spots lately.

Wow.

Dumbest deflection EVAR!

You and all democrats were denied the right to vote for Kamala in a democrat primary election. You are barking up the wrong tree on voting.

Democrats just demonstrated they will deny the right to vote. Nobody voted for Kamala Harris in a presidential primary.

This is a popular, and ridiculous right wing trope.

No one was denied the right to vote.

They have to operate on rage and aggression and emotion, because that's what the base demands. And even though he could be very effective as the smiling snake, he doesn't fit the MAGA Middle School Bully™ mold.

There was no primary for Kamala, that is a fact. When democrats start talking about voting rights and democracy they gave that up when kamala was made the candidate without a primary

And the mighty DECREPID tries again, lol. At least you have to admire an incompetent boob/booblette, who refuses to give up after being proven, INCOMPETENT, IRRELEVANT, and IMMATERIAL-) Hey, you go with your CHICKLETTES DECREPID, MACAFLOOZY, derBERGhoff, IM2abrilliantpovertypimp, and the rest of the crew. Let us all know how that is working out for you-)

We actually laugh at you and your crew, lol. Know what you got? NOTHING, including enough intelligence to find the solution of 2 plus 2!

"Seems unlikely" = "doesn't fit our narrative."

With all due respect, Mac...the GOP has an agenda that a majority of the voters approves of...it's the Democrats that have substituted rage and emotion for a competing agenda! What does a modern day progressive have for an agenda that's going to appeal to blue collar working people?

The Democratic party lost its way when diluted its message to the middle class by embracing PC & Identity Politics. I don't know what brings them back.

So from where I'm sitting, we don't have any serious parties right now. And it shows.

This is a lie? Johnson chooses to accept a commonly held belief for which there are other possible explanations. That's not a lie.

Just for fun, I'll mention a lie that is peddled by the mob that actually runs Monticello these days: Thomas Jefferson fathered a couple of slave children who have living descendants, and are therefore direct descendants of TJ. PROVEN, they say! But that is not true. It is PROVEN that these lovely folks were sired by A JEFFERSON, the individual cannot be determined genetically.

Details, details.

I don’t know what’s more disturbing: the idea that Mike Johnson doesn’t know the Jefferson didn’t write that prayer; or the idea that you think people can pick and choose which facts to believe.

There is only one fact in the matter and that is that Jefferson didn’t write that prayer. Everything else is a lie.

Republicans are really big on believing this notion that there are “alternative facts”. Alternative facts are lies.
