and a women would benefit greatly from the training,, it teaches a smaller person how to overpower a larger one,,

You do understand that the officer did not gain compliance at any time. While he did bring the man down that was as far as it went. Forcible compliance did not occur until the arrival of the other officers who were able to assist.
