He didn't have to get out of the basement and campaign because the anti Trump vote was strong enough nothing else mattered a whole lot.

After four years of "Russian Collusion" bullshit and a never ending impeachment empowered by their allies in the media Joe could have pulled 45% of the vote without ever saying a word.

No matter how we got there, once the Electoral College Voted and those votes accepted by Congress it was over and we'll never undo it.
