It is money that has never been in the US, has nothing to do with the US Government. It is earned on overseas investments. It has jack shit to do with the US Government.... We are... when it becomes the US Government's business.... off shore accounts are not the US Government's business, until that money is brought into the US. Same with my UK income... which I pay UK taxes on... I have to declare it, but I don't pay tax on it.

Are you sure about that? Did your accountant tell you that? I mean, I don't know. That might be absolutely correct. But I've always thought that I'm supposed to report and pay taxes on my non-retirement accounts in Canada. I can net that out against any taxes paid overseas but otherwise I'm libel. I thought. This is why Americans can't live in the Caymans and earn their money tax free offshore, I thought. The only hesitation I had becoming an American citizen was this tax issue. I have thought about relocating to the Caymans but I thought becoming an American voided those benefits.
