Likely the workers at that Russian airport had no idea why people were making such a fuss over this woman. That aside, she has played there for years. She knew the laws of that country and how draconian they are. I’m sure some sort of prisoner swap will be figured out at some point

This was more about demonizing Russia and Putin. That more than anything sealed her fate. Had she been given leniency nobody in the West would have applauded the Russian courts or prosecutors. It isn't propaganda. Russia has well known harsh drug penalities.
We have a severe lack of understanding what personal responsibility is in this country. If you don't want to get in trouble then don't break laws. It really is that simple.

The average casual sports fan knows the names of 10-12 current NBA players off the top of their head. They have some opinion on who’s the best currently and all time. Those same people probably can’t list 5 WNBA team names let alone players. BG is far more famous now than she ever was or would have been because of her play on the court. That has zero to do with her skin color or who she’s sleeping with. It’s because womens basketball is an inferior product to men‘s so if Im a basketball fan why would I watch the inferior league? An average D3 mens basketball team would wipe the floor with the WNBA all star team.
