Jim Matheson, actually a Democrat I admire and solute to, is retiring. Matheson was extremely popular, yet he could only be newcomer Love by 1 pt. He knew he was going down. Now Love will go against an unknown cash poor Democrat in a Republican district. She is now nationally known and has a large amount of cash in the coffer.

I still she will win, considering it is the 2d bi-election in the Obama administration, and historically the opposition party does well.

However, she should win by 10 points going away.

If she wins by less than 3 points, the troubling concern will be that the red meat forces in Utah are not nearly as powerful as once believed.
Such an outcome will make Mike Lee, who has been kissing the moderates ever since the deficit/budget debacle engineered by Cruz and him, absolutely crap in his pants.

Right now, she is trumpeting rightwing talking points. It is a requirement of all Republicans seeking office. Have to see how she acts once she gets elected.

Of course she's going to win...the district is R+16....how could any new comer democrat win in territory like that??

The reason Matheson only won by 1% in 2012 is because the Utah legislature gerrymandered the district to exclude a good portion of the Salt Lake City voters that Matheson had good support from, they expected him to lose but he still won.
