The final version of the "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) passed by the U.S. House of Representatives includes a 3.5% excise tax on remittances sent abroad by individuals who are not U.S. citizens.
This tax would apply to transfers starting in 2026 and would be collected by remittance service providers, banks, and money transfer apps, with payments made quarterly to the U.S. Treasury.
