Memorial Day will soon be upon us.
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the Brave Men and Women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
Memorial Day 2021 will occur on Monday, May 31.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting our loved ones in Cemeteries and visiting Memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in Parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the Summer Season. Many will spend the day Bar-B-Qing, at the Beach, or even at the Mall.
But Memorial Day is a day for Commemoration, Remembrance, Reverence, and Personal Dedication to the Constitution and the Principles that it is built upon.

Naturally none of this means anything to Democrats, Progressives, and Socialists who will be Bar-B-Qing, their Tofu on that day.

Memorial Day really started as an annual family union to clean up the family cemetery day, not a patriotic holiday.

Anyway, people are free to do as they wish, with or without tofu. That is how "freedom" works.

A lot of democrats rest in honor at our nation's military cemeteries. Perhaps they should be marked as such so assholes like you can spit on them.

The Constitution sucks. What are the principles?

Domestic tranquility? limited government? balance of power? checks on power? accountability???

Good job putting a typo in your username. I would've done that if'n I'd thought about it.

I will fly my stars and stripes and think about the ultimate sacrifice veterans that are no longer with us. It's their day, not mine.

Nope, Armistice Day or Remembrance Day is now known as Veterans Day. The official date is Nov. 11. It commemorated the signing of the Armistice for WWI. It commemorates the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month. Memorial Day came about as a result of the Civil War and was formerly known as Decoration Day. armistice day - Yahoo Search Results

Reverence for our veterans and the honored dead is as close to a universal issue as American politics has. In spite of this some assholes still try to inject partisan bullshit into it like OP. I guess you don't have a problem with dishonoring our war dead for a cheap partisan shot either.

10-15 years ago, I made a yard decoration, a flag made of wood, with 13 alternating red and white stripes, with a field of blue.

each stripe listed a war my family as been involved in, starting with 1776, up to Nam.

None of the younger generation saw fit to enlist after I retired from the Navy in 1990.

I'm ashamed of that.

It wasn't 2 week after I set that in my mothers flower garden, that someone smeared it with shit.

security cam showed it to be a local guy, a well known democrat backer.

so, dont' feed me YOUR shit.

I've SEEN the shit YOUR side throws.

I saw a republican president stand at Arlington and not understand any of it. I saw every other republican president act eager to throw Americans into the meat grinder. I've seen 50 years of warmongers accusing those who oppose stupid wars every horrible name in the book. I've seen what your side does and it hurts worse than anything some imaginary guy down the street can do.

and did that 50 years include Johnson lying about the Gulf of Tonkin?

Anyone with any personal stories for Memorial Day? My fathers family cemetery on this day will be covered with flags for those who died in service to this country ,from the 1820s Seminole wars to Vietnam. When I was a child we cleaned up the graves and put flags on them that died in war. He said to me ,If you ever decide to go in the military I will be proud of you ,but looking at all these flags .I do not think anyone will say our family did not do our part.

Amazing that even this draws partisan bickering. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Honoring cemeteries? For Dems, isn't that nothing more than pandering to constituents?
