That’s because Latinos in Texas are disproportionately ineligible to vote. Too many either aren’t citizens or are too young to upend the state in the next few election cycles.

Provided we don't legalize the illegals present in the state, I don't see Texas becoming blue, or even purple anytime in the near future. Legalization of illegals is also not going to happen soon since House Republican leaders do not favor rewarding those who deliberately broke the law. The only solution to this problem is for the GOP (once it wins in 2016) to pass a law that would jail employers who hire illegals. Illegals would not be able to remain in Texas without a source of income.
