Putin finally agreed to meet with Bennett. PM Bennett then spoke to Zelensky by phone. Bennett has been in talks with German Chancellor Scholz about the situation. Zelensky had asked Bibi and Bennett to mediate because Israel is one of few nations with good relations with both Russia and Ukraine. Scholz seems to know Putin well so can diplomacy work here?

Diplomacy may not work but it is worth trying.

IDK.

It could go both ways.

As long a Bennett is truly unbiased, thus 'mediation'.

Diplomacy NEVER works. It is nothing more than a big show to obfuscate the intentions and actions of the parties involved.

Putin didn't want a war and never did want to take the entire Ukraine, but losses he incurs will almost certainly incentivize him to keep all his gains.

Talks will need to kept secret in order to prolong the US/Nato image of Putin attempting to restore the Soviet Union.

There is a satisfactory solution for Ukraine, Russia, and Nato, but the US needs to allow it to happen.
As it stands, the US is still convinced that it will win this war and that will lead to the opportunity to break up Russia.
