Illegals immigrants represent a significant part of the labor force, and their removal will undoubtedly hurt many industries in many locations, resulting in contraction of GDP and rising inflation as labor costs increase as employers compete for a smaller labor pool with fewer skills.

Legal immigrants contribute much more and they don't drain resources from Americans and it is very rare that they vandalize, steal, burglarize, deal in damaging activities, commit assault, rape, murder or pose any kind of threat to national security.

And cost of immigrants, that is a lame claim that has been completely fabricated. I could post countless white papers and studies, quote dozens of economists, all supporting the reality that immigrants, both illegal and legal, provide a greater economic benefit than they cost, and that would be just looking at dollars. There are dozens of benefits that have nothing to do with dollars and cents and sometimes, those benefits can pop up after two or three generations. Instead, a history lesson.

Early 18th century, Colonial North Carolina. Sparsely populated, especially in the West, for a couple of reasons. Native Americans had consistently driven out the settlers, starting with Juan Pardo's attempt to establish outposts earlier in the 16th century. But second, the rivers, they were everywhere and essentially closed off any community that did manage to take root.

The governor, Charles Eden, needed residents. He came up with a plan. He would grant amnesty, provide a full pardon, to anyone and everyone that agreed to locate in the state, no matter the crime or the location. The most famous criminal to take him up on the offer, Blackbeard, the notorious pirate. He was granted a full pardon, took a wife and made an attempt at the straight life, it just didn't fit his temperament.

That wasn't the case for most of those that accepted those pardons and asylum. Criminals, yes real criminals, flooded the state. Especially in the West. Interesting enough, this is precisely the time frame that my ancestors first entered North Carolina. The population grew, and those that wanted to be truly left alone and get a fresh start headed for the mountains.

Now, flash forward to the Revolutionary War. Washington sends Hamilton to North Carolina tasking him with estimating how many North Carolinians could be counted on to volunteer for the Continental Army. When he came back his response was blunt, "ZERO".

The residents of North Carolina, and again, especially in the mountains, they didn't give two shits. Isolated, much like how many of them are now, after the hurricane damage, they were content in the communities they had forged out of that wilderness. They had built a relationship with the Native American tribes, mostly the Cherokee and the Catawba. They were independent, and free, not insignificantly from the past of their parents. In fact, for years the license plate of North Carolina proudly displayed "First in Freedom", to the chagrin of the rest of the nation.

But then, Butcher Tarlton and his dragoons showed up. The Waxhaw massacre happened, Andrew Jackson just a kid witnessing the entire thing. Then, all hell broke loose. They were called the overmountain men. This nation owes them a great debt for without them we would be singing "God Save the King" before every MLB game.

You cannot convince me that the war did not turn in the South, primarily at King's Mountain. And it was not Americans against British, or even German mercenaries. It was Americans against Americans. King's Mountain was the turning point. And there was one British military officer on that field, Fergunson.

History does not give that battle justice, nor does it even paint an accurate picture. Sure, we came out with a victory, but what they don't tell you is that those Overmountainmen marched there with their wives, mostly Native Americans, and their kids, swaddled around their wives' bellies, reloading the muskets. While often disputed, I know precisely who shot Fergunson off his horse, well at least one of the people, he was hit multiple times. That long rifle is on display at a local museum. How that rifle got to the battlefield is a story in itself, borrowed, from the old father, or my great great, damn, I am not going to go to Ancestry.com to find out how many times, grandfather.

Waxhaw massacre, Battle of Ramsuer's Mill, Battle of King's mountain, Biggerstaff's Field. There, there you have the history of this nation, and it is all due to the actions of one governor, all due to completely open borders and a free fresh start.

It appears we have come full circle. Today, it is Americans against Americans, just as divided as we were prior to the Civil War, maybe as divided as we were during the American Revolution. Mark my words, this nation's very beginning, very existence, hinges on Eden's pardons and open borders. Mass deportation and closing the border will signal the end of this nation. It might take fifty or sixty years, but it is coming if we adopt Trump's policies.

Those that forget the mistakes of the past are destined to repeat them.

Lets just allow every economically deprived person from around the world come into the US. Given the huge benefit we receive from all immigrants, wouldn't that then make us even better?

Prime age labor force participation is higher now than it has been in the last 20 plus years and nearing the all time highs of the late 90s. I know you guys want the labor force participation rate to go up, but are you planning on sending retirees back to work?
