Meanwhile, Trump Scores a Win with the European Union on Tariffs

Um, no, it just means Americans will pay more for European goods, dummy.

If anything, Trump makes it more likely Europeans will boycott American goods.

What do you think about establishing a duty-free zone between the USA and Europe in Greenland? Or does one already exist in Russia?

You favorite trade partners: Russia, Turkey, Saudi-Arabia, Great Britain, Australia, Brazil, Argentinia.

Tariffs dont increase prices to consumers manufacturers pay them. Ever been to Europe?

Um, you have that completely wrong, guy.

A tariff is a tax on the consumer. The consumer pays them, not the manufacturer.

Now, in my Day Job, I'm a buyer. Nearly every company that buys components from an overseans manufacturer is adding a "tariff surcharge" onto or costs. Some of them put it as a separate line, others are working it directly into the cost, but the bottom line is our price is going up, and we are going to pass that price on to our customers.

Manufacturers have to sell or go broke. Consumers dont have to buy. Thats called leverage. This forces prices to drop. China devalued its currency to offset the tariffs that causes prices to drop. Tariffs are up inflation is coming down.
Nike makes a sneaker in China for $17.00. It retails for 100-150.00. If they increase the price they wont sell. They will eat the tariff. They can easily afford to

No, we the consumer, who needs products, do not have leverage except in mass action.

When is the last time that has happened because of consumer mass action?

You are confused as usual.

Let's use your Nike example.

It costs $17.00 to make the shoe in China. But as anyone who has taken a business course can tell you, the middleman always makes a profit. Nike isn't selling that shoe for $100.00, the retailer is. And when a shoes don't sell, you see them marked down in the clearance bin.

But let's live in your fantasy world where the company is going to "eat" the cost? How are they going to do that? They are going to do that by cutting raises to their employees or even cutting the employees

Meh, don't care one way or the other.

the problem with tariffs or duties is they are paid by the consumer, not the manufacturer.

Not really. Simplifying example: 15% higher beer prices means 15% less folk festivals and 15% less beer production. But the costs don't sink 15%. So a brewery has higher costs per gallon beer and so they have to increase the prices even if they lose 15% of their turnover. So perhaps in the end it will be 20% or more higher prices - and less profit.

By the way - They don't flee in this video - they want to be the first:

I think your leiderhosen is cutting off circulation to the brain.

We aren't talking about beer, we are talking about consumer goods like electronics and manufactured items.

If you are paying extra for a foreign beer, it's because you want to pay that premium.

Jobs are beating expectations inflation is down wages are up reality opposes your opinion. I started 5 businesses two were retail stores. The free market drives down prices. When Trump imposed tariffs on China in his first term prices dropped inflation was 1.2%. I dont think Im confused at all

Uh, guy, it's not as rosy as you think it is on the job market. The only thing sustaining the job market right now is the mass retirement of boomers at about 300K a month.

If you started five businesses, how many of them are still in business?

So you've had five business failures, this makes you an expert in.... failure.

I retired at 52. Been in business since I was 22. None failed I moved form one to another. I met many owners who were successful when I was just starting. They had the Cadillacs lots of money and I was the struggling kid. All of them had at least one failure in their past. The difference between them and others is they get back up and do it again

I will never understand why all anti-USA Trumpicans are idiots and Donald Trump got more than one vote.

Europe has learned what I have known for a long time, America has been the golden goose for the world. Canada had the best opportunity to maximize in a free trade deal and instead of innovating and being competitive, we reinforced a police state and lost three decades.

I tried for two decades to educate Canadian authorities, but like their old British overlords they treat other nations with the same discourse they treat citizens. The United States, especially lead by Trump; isn't just some obedient subject, he isn't a career politician bought and sold.

Canada should be strong leader in innovation but instead we are a caste system enforced by unaccountable Creepy Ones.

Trump is definitely going to take the hard line against Canada now, they have Japan and the E,U in the fold, even the U.K. Therefore, unless Canada opens up a great deal, the entire auto industry will disappear in short order. For a province like Ontario where 100k are homeless and property taxes are skyrocketing, this is not good news.

It's disappointing but not at all surprising as I am a victim of these criminals. They like to bully until they face a bigger dog. Trump has all the time in the world now. So what may have been a strength for Canada (to delay and obfuscate) is no longer viable.
Poli would have been 100% better for Canada, but you guys were indoctrinated by the press. He did make a mistake in distancing himself from Trump. Now Canada will continue to suffer under another far left liberal leader who will bankrupt Canada like Commyla would have the US.

My life is worked out just fine. It's why I don't have to make up stories on the internet to feel better about myself.
I dont have to make up anything the fact that you do defines who you are. You just cant defend your belief because reality disproves it. So you try and make me the issue.
