Jihad is not sword for bloodshed – Mufti Maksat Toktomushev
Bishkek (AKIpress) - Jihad is not a sword for bloodshed, Mufti Maksat Toktomushev said on December 22 during the discussion of the Kyrgyz public policy, which was held in Osh.
There is a complicated socio-political and religious situation in Islamic world now, according to him.
"In particular, the existing religious divisions between Sunni and Shia have led to civil war in Syria. Now, our society is concerned that religious bigots participate in this war, and some of them are from Kyrgyzstan. The religious bigots make people participate in terrorism acts. Unfortunately, some residents of Kyrgyzstan and representatives of the towns' mosques are trying to create chaos in the country, calling for a caliphate through social media, religious pamphlets, books," Toktomushev explained.
He said that jihad means serving one's country and parents. "People, who do not understand the real meaning of jihad, call for destabilization. The war in Syria occurred due to the global political games," the Mufti said.
The main goal is to save lost youth of Kyrgyzstan, representative of the State Agency for Religious Affairs Kurbanaly Uzakov added.
"Disseminating correct religious ideas and attitudes in public policy should involve local authorities, municipalities, and state structures," he said.
Today, there is a lot of destabilizing information in media, particularly, in the Internet, Maksat Toktomushev noted. “In this regard, we ask Kyrgyz authorities to solve this issue,” he said.
