Former Secretary of State
Colin Powell scorched President
Donald Trump on Sunday for placing himself â rather than the American people â at the center of the nation.
âMy favorite three words in our Constitution are the first three words: âWe the People',â Powell said on Fareed Zakariaâs 'GPS' on Sunday. âBut recently, itâs become âMe the Presidentâ as opposed to âWe the People.â And you see things that should not be happening.â
Powell criticized Trump for âinsulting everybody,â from world leaders to blacks to immigrants to women, and for calling the media the âenemy of the peopleâ.
âHow can a president of the United States get up and say that the media is the enemy of Americans? Hasnât he read the First Amendment? Youâre not supposed to like everything the press says or what anyone says in the First Amendment, thatâs why we have a First Amendment, to protect that kind of speech,â Powell said.
As for immigration, âthe world is watchingâ and itâs appalled that the Trump administration is separating migrant mothers and children, Powell warned.
âThey canât believe that weâre making such an effort to cease immigration coming into the country. Itâs whatâs kept us alive,â he said. âHow can we be walking away from this model?â.Once more I must thank Republicans for delivering this cancer Trump to our WH
