The GOP is weak AF. They should've already had term limits passed, spending reduction bills passed, the impeachment of Biden should be well under way. The democrats, even in the minority, are stronger than todays GOP. The only ones in the GOP, including Trump, that have any gonads, are the freedom caucus.
They would've had a fighting chance to keep McCarthy out of the speakers chair, had Trump not opened his big fat dem lite mouth and endorsed him.

Im not a big fan of McCarthy, but he does have to factor in the political ramafications of a shut down. Something like that could cause the republican candidate in the next election to lose votes.
