Or is all this too pagan?

I think it is ok.

What do you think?

Since I was confirmed as a Catholic, I find myself less interested in Christmas, culturally. We have a whole season to observe, instead of just a day.

I guess that is just to say that Advent is far more important than just celebrating Christmas day.

Same with the Season of Lent/Easter. It's far more important as a Season than it ever was as a day.

It just occurred to me that while most nativity scenes are far from biblically accurate, they do gather all of the symbols of Jesus's birth into one place. Not the worst thing.

She gets elected for two years.
I just googled for her.
For 2025 to 2026 a fine young girl, Nora Falk, has been elected a short time ago.

Advent is also importent in Germany.
There is the Adventskranz, classically in green with 4 red Candles, the Adventskalender with 24 windows, the Barbarazweige from December 4 on, and Saint Nikolaus on Dec 6

Maybe some ultra fundamentalist or offbeat Christian groups forego all the normal Christmas symbols and traditions, but most Americans enjoy all the symbols, traditions, festivities, both Christian and secular.

I can't imagine denying a small child the thrill, wonder, joy of concepts of Santa Claus and his elves and reindeer and all the other mythology. The concept of the joyous celebration of Christmas is contained in these myths even though the characters and symbolism is fiction.

And I think all Christians who practice Christianity also utilize the symbolism of Christmas trees, the star of Bethlehem, nativity scenes, visitation of the Magi, angels, and other components of the Biblical Christian stories in order to teach children or remind themselves of the wonder of it all.

When I was a child our Christmas tree completely blocked the fireplace in the living room, so my mother taped a large Christmas stocking to the wall by my bedside. I was terrified at the thought of somone coming into bedroom at night just a foot away from me. My vision of Santa coming down the chimney was fine but not coming into my bedroom. I told my mother this and she took it down. Even the idea of sitting on a 'store Santa's' lap frightened me and I never did, which likely left my mother confused.

Unfortunate. Yes a small number of children are unexplainably bothered by some of the Christmas traditions. But the vast majority are not and should not be denied their delight and enjoyment of it all.
